There is so much to say. I KNEW you would get good news, there are just too many great things happenening. And although we hoped for something good, I never in a million years would have predicted remission.

I didn’t realize what it felt like to take a big breath until Tuesday, did you? The air feels so crisp and much easier to inhale.

It is amazing to realize just HOW many miracles have occured here. For instance, the disease went undetected for quite some time yet you have still managed to grab ahold of it and fight the good fight.

Another miracle: there is “no trace” found in your body.
Another miracle: the absence of any scar tissue ~ another example of God’s healing hand?

What is even so hard to wrap my head around is how God started lining people up in your life to prepare you for this storm in your life. Theresa was in nursing school before you married April. The fact that you married a gal who is able to keep you organized, no small feat by the way, and refuses to leave your side for any treatments and appointments regardless of how many other things she has to juggle is a miracle. (The fact that she married you is the biggest miracle).

Another miracle: when diagnosed, Theresa was able to get down there as quickly as she did and the fact that she has been such a great deal of help to you.

How about the miracle that our cousin Becky has been so instrumental in the entire process from insurance glitches to maintaining comfort to celebrating all victories, large and small. How fabulous it is to have her?

And then the miracle of finding that one oncologist who after just reading your scans, could see that although termed a “longshot”, she recognized you are one who defies the odds and felt she could beat the cancer down. Thank God for that.

I am so glad that you have not and will not accept the 8 month and 18 month prognosis as you are going to beat this and stick around for years and years to come, thankfully.

And as far as the quality versus quantity of life ~ I WANT BOTH! Maybe greed runs in the family but I want it all.

I want you here and I want to continue on just as we have for the last few wmonths. Don’t get me wrong, a little less stress and worry would be nice, but I am so grateful that God is using this horrible situation to teach us to stop and smell the roses, and the dandelions and the weeds too.

So see, there have been many miracles, from my vantage point, and I do not forsee them stopping now.

As I said a couple of weeks ago, MIRACLES DO NOT PRODUCE FAITH; FAITH PRODUCES MIRACLES.

    Keep the faith dear brother.
    Erin

    Hi Joel!

I was simply overjoyed when I read your great news! I’ve been thinking of you daily and knew the news would be coming soon. Living in “the sticks” in Terre Haute we lost our internet provider two weeks ago. I told my husband that we had to get it fixed ASAP so that I could read about your prognosis. As soon as I got service I quickly logged in and caught up on your blog.

To quote one of your friends/relatives:
“good things do happen to good people!”

I, too, believe in miracles and believe your family just received their first!

I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers!

    Molly
