The last leg

Hello again —

I am happy to report that there is not much to report!  Today was a very uneventful day — which, in a way, made it very nice also.  My parents drove the kids back home from Chicago on Thursday.  They left early this morning to return to Chicago, so it was just Joel, the kids and I home all day.  Due to the weather (rain all morning and then returning in the evening), we stayed around the house.  Oddly enough, I actually enjoyed cleaning the house today.  (I don’t say that very often!  Just having a hint of normalcy was therapeutic.)  The kids were content to take turns registering their new Webkinz animals on the computer.  Joel pretty much hung out on the couch today.  He doesn’t feel the greatest today — probably due to these last three radiation treatments.  On Friday, his appointment took longer than usual since they repositioned where the radiation is being targeted and also increased the intensity in these new, smaller areas.  These last two treatments will probably do the same to him — really try to knock him flat.  He can see the finish line, but like all marathons, the last leg is always the hardest.  Joel is hanging in there and knows he has to endure all this for victory.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Talk to you soon.

Thanks for the update, April. Joel, I’m sorry that you’re feeling wiped out now but I am so thankful that you have (from our perspective) sailed through these powerful treatments with fixable-side effects. We’ll be thinking and praying for you tomorrow and Tuesday and hope that all goes well. Paula
