Halloween in Orlando

Posted by Joel on October 21st, 2008 filed in General stuff

Hey all.  Tuesday evening and wanted to check in.  Not much to report on this end.  Had a great time this weekend visiting with Rod Kiefer and Ty Bowling over golf and euchre games.  The PET scan has been rescheduled for Nov. 18th.  I’m glad that it was as it won’t coincide with Thanksgiving now.  Just back to playing the waiting game.  The wait makes it difficult to focus on other things, namely, work.  It’s tough to care much about working during this ordeal.  I know its been my experience this summer that all things not family/friends have taken a spot way down on the totem pole of my priorities.

In that spirit, it was April’s idea to take the kids to Florida next week.  It wasn’t much of a struggle to talk me into the trip either.  It sounded fun from the onset.  It should be a really good time and we’ll get to visit with Ed, Preston and families.  Theresa, and my parents are going to make the trip as well.  We’re going to pull the kids out of school, leaving next Tuesday and returning on Sunday.  Spending halloween with Mickey Mouse should be a thing to remember.

Don’t know much more, will check in soon.

Joel

I wondered if you were packing your suitcases yet. I am glad that “all of you” get to go. You will have such a great time. I’ve only been one time, on fall break, and the weather was beautiful-as in hot. We’ll be glad to see pictures when you get back.
Thanks on the update about the new PET scan date. We are continuing to keep you in our prayers. Enjoy your trip. Paula

DisneyWorld is the greatest place on earth. Going at Halloween would be so awesome. The Halloween parades look really elaborate, even for Disney. I can’t wait to hear all of the stories and see the pictures. Do the kids know yet? I didn’t want to say anything last week because Mom said they didn’t know. It was hard to keep my mouth shut, but not impossible.

I’m glad the PET scan was moved up. The uneasy and queasy feeling never left the pit of my stomach, but it is becoming more noticeable as this day approaches. I’m glad you’ll be getting a vacation in before your surgery, it will be a nice distraction.

    Take care,
    Erin

    Hi Joel,

I am also looking forward to seeing Mickey and his gang, especially with Rachel, Daphne, and Vincent.

I am bringing Disney dollars for the kids — thanks, of course, to Connie.

We should save a lot of money by not buying Halloween candy for trick/treaters here.

    Thanks for the invitation.

    Love
    Mother

Yep…I’m positive that the Disney trip will definately be cheaper than two bags of snickers and 1 bag of bubble gum…maybe not..but certainly more fun..we’re pretty geared up here

missed your call the other night, we took fall break and went to Gatlinburg. So you caught my mother in law while we were down there and did not know you called until we came back. From the Purdue pictures, you look great. I hope that all is well. I tried to email but insight is no longer a portal or something? I see that you and yours had some fun as well on your fall break.

    yours truly,
    John

    Hey Peigh’s,
Just wondering if you have your suitcases and sunscreen packed. I’m sure you’re all excited-do you think the kids will sleep tonight? I hope you all have a good time. We’ll want to see some pictures. See you soon. Paula

    Hi Joel,

I am still packing for tomorrow. We called Southwest three times to make sure we understood the dimensions for suitcases. I verified “perimeter” he agreed but I realize now, he didn’t mean perimeter– just dimensions. I did get the boarding passes printed after Connie said SW does do that, I thought there were no assigned seats.

We had a great time with you all at Scott’s wedding. Daphne got the seat next to Dad’s at the reception, so he was helping her. He told her to put her tea in front of her plate. I knew Daphne looked puzzled but thought she thought the glass was sort of there. After a couple more instructions from Dad, I heard her say “oh, tea, I thought he said teeth”.

    See you in the morning.
